McCarthy Resolves Tricky Real Estate Tax Problem

The firm was retained by banks that had made mortgage loans on individual condominium units. Unknown to the banks, real estate taxes for the year before the units had been individually assessed had not been paid and had been sold to tax buyers. Emmett McCarthy negotiated agreements that allowed the banks to protect the individual units in which they had an interest without redeeming the taxes on the entire project.
