Taxpayers may want to prepay the 2017 first installment real estate tax for reasons such as winter travel or to increase their tax write-offs for the current year. Cook County taxpayers can now participate in the optional program of prepaying their 2017 first installment property taxes, which are an estimated bill equal to 55% of the prior year’s total tax.
