Macon County has filed petitions for tax deed and completed the tax deed proceedings for all properties up for auction. Bidding will start at $600.00 per property. This type of sale (an auction of property) should not be confused with a tax lien sale where the county is selling tax liens (not tax deeds) and the bidding is on the penalty rate the tax purchaser is willing to accept in the event of a redemption (starting at 18% per 6 months and going down to 0%).
