The Maine Townships Assessor’s proposal called for budgeting $40,000 in government funds for what she called a “pilot” program to help Maine Township residents 65 years and over pay the balance on 2016 property taxes they still owe in order to avoid the tax liens being sold in the Cook County 2016 Annual Tax Sale scheduled to begin May 4, 2018.
